Overview
Bidding on AOS is designed to be simple, transparent and secure.
Once your registration has been approved and the auction is live, you can place bids on any Lot for which you are eligible.
Every valid bid is recorded in real time and forms part of the official auction history.
Placing Your First Bid
To place a bid:
- Open the Horse Profile.
- Review all available information.
- Confirm the current highest bid.
- Enter your bid or activate Automatic Bidding.
- Confirm your bid.
Once submitted, your bid becomes a legally binding offer to purchase the horse if you become the winning bidder.
Current Highest Bid
The Horse Profile always displays the current highest valid bid.
As bidding progresses, this value updates automatically in real time.
This allows every participant to see the current auction status at any moment.
Bid Increments
Every auction uses predefined bid increments.
The Platform automatically enforces these increments to ensure fair and consistent bidding.
If your bid does not meet the required increment, you will be asked to increase it before submitting.
Automatic Bidding
Automatic Bidding allows you to define the maximum amount you are willing to pay for a horse.
The Platform will then bid automatically on your behalf, using only the minimum amount necessary to maintain the leading position.
Your maximum bid remains completely confidential and is never visible to other buyers.
If You Are Outbid
If another buyer places a higher bid, you will be notified immediately.
You may then:
- place another manual bid;
- increase your Automatic Bid limit;
- stop participating.
The decision is always yours.
Reserve Price
Some horses are offered with a confidential Reserve Price.
Until that price has been reached, the Platform may indicate that the Reserve Price has not yet been met.
The exact amount is never disclosed.
Once the Reserve Price has been reached, the Platform will indicate that the Lot is eligible to be sold.
Auction Extensions
Some auctions include automatic extensions.
If a valid bid is placed during the final moments before a Lot closes, the closing time may be extended.
This prevents last-second bidding and gives all interested buyers a fair opportunity to respond.
The remaining time is always displayed on the auction page.
Winning the Auction
When bidding closes, the highest valid bid becomes the winning bid, provided that any applicable Reserve Price has been met.
The winning buyer will receive confirmation together with instructions for completing the purchase.
Bid Responsibly
Every bid placed through AOS is a legally binding commitment.
Before submitting a bid, make sure that you:
- have reviewed all available information;
- understand the Auction Terms;
- are prepared to complete payment if you win;
- genuinely intend to purchase the horse.
Responsible bidding helps ensure a fair and trusted marketplace for all participants.
