Overview

Once payment has been successfully completed, the final stage of the transaction is the collection or delivery of your horse.

Collection arrangements are agreed directly between you and the Organizer in accordance with the Auction Terms.

Proper planning helps ensure a smooth and efficient transfer.

Arrange Collection Promptly

After payment has been confirmed, contact the Organizer to agree on:

  • collection date;
  • collection location;
  • transport arrangements;
  • required documentation;
  • any special instructions relating to the horse.

Early communication helps avoid unnecessary delays.

Transport

Buyers are generally responsible for arranging transport unless otherwise specified in the Auction Terms.

When selecting a transport provider, consider:

  • experience with horses;
  • insurance coverage;
  • international transport capabilities;
  • animal welfare standards;
  • estimated delivery times.

Always confirm transport arrangements with the Organizer before collection.

International Purchases

If you are purchasing a horse from another country, additional requirements may apply.

These may include:

  • export documentation;
  • import permits;
  • veterinary certificates;
  • customs procedures;
  • quarantine requirements;
  • transportation regulations.

Requirements vary depending on the countries involved.

You are responsible for understanding the regulations applicable to your destination.

Documentation

Before the horse is collected, ensure that you receive all documentation applicable to your purchase.

Depending on the horse and jurisdiction, this may include:

  • horse passport;
  • registration certificate;
  • ownership transfer documents;
  • veterinary records;
  • vaccination records;
  • breeding certificates;
  • export documentation.

Review all documents carefully before completing the collection process.

Inspect the Horse

Whenever practical, inspect the horse at the time of collection.

Confirm that:

  • the horse matches the description provided;
  • identification details are correct;
  • accompanying documentation is complete;
  • agreed equipment or accessories are included, if applicable.

If you identify any issues, notify the Organizer immediately.

Ownership Transfer

Ownership transfers in accordance with the Auction Terms and applicable law.

In many cases, ownership passes only after:

  • full payment has been received;
  • contractual obligations have been fulfilled;
  • the Organizer has completed the required transfer documentation.

Always retain copies of the transfer documents for your records.

After Collection

Once your horse has safely arrived, we recommend that you:

  • review all received documentation;
  • register the ownership transfer where required;
  • schedule any necessary veterinary examinations;
  • update insurance policies if applicable;
  • keep all purchase records securely.

Maintaining complete records will simplify future ownership, breeding, competition or resale activities.

Best Practices

For a successful handover:

  • communicate early with the Organizer;
  • arrange transport with an experienced equine carrier;
  • verify all documentation before departure;
  • inspect the horse at collection where possible;
  • retain copies of all purchase and transport records.

A well-organized collection process ensures that your purchase concludes smoothly and provides the best possible start to your ownership of the horse.
